What a great way to spend a day riding in this beautiful area in the Welsh borders. The Bishops and their helpers had set out 6 entertaining sections to be ridden 4 times, with some observed and some timed. All the sections were rideable for nearly all types of bikes. And only one route for al. The entry included ages from just 16 to a couple of pensioners. By allowing day licences this encouraged some of our friends to have a go, even for their first event, and nobody really cared if they failed anywhere. (You'll see some very experienced riders getting the bogey maximums too!).

If there had been a podium then it would have been Roan Delaney 1st, Robbie Breakwell 2nd and Ieuan Williams in 3rd with only 1.5 seconds between them and bear in mind the different bikes - MX, Enduro and Trials!

Now Roan is no stranger to winning as he's just clinched the ACU's British Sprint Enduro Championship winning the Youth class with times quick enough to challenge many of the adult classes.

This event seems a fitting way for the club to celebrate the life of one of our key members, Jules Bishop, and with a 2 mins silence at the start of the event and to also remember the loss of our Monarch who can herself be seen riding a motorcycle between obstacles back in the war years. And to add to the memories we also mourn the sad loss of Vic Madeley who was the powerhouse behind one of the club's favourite timecard enduros, The Powys.

We asked riders to declare which tyre type they were using. On a dry day it won't make much of a difference, but had it rained then we think you'd have liked to know why your brilliant ride was trounced and just scan similarly clad riders. (That sets my excuse up for being blasted by the rest of the enduro Class! Though Darren beats me there with 3 better excuses lined up!)

We have to thank the ACU Western Youth Development Squad who had a practice session in the morning then helped out massively at our event later and we clearly have some excellent future officials developing their skills too!
