Wye Valley's John Langford Trial

Words: Rich Gwinnutt

I was hoping for a nice, gentle 'pipe opener' at Wye Valley yesterday but no such luck; they put on a really good, challenging stream trial at Craswall with 10 sections over 4 laps. Queuing in the stream meant both boots filled on lap 1 and a drive home without socks!!

Brendon Kedward put on an excellent show despite thinking he had not done as well as he did but 17 was more than enough to win the clubman route on a course which took plenty from everybody.

I managed to improve my Stony Green result, dropping 40 in the Sportsmen and a 4th place just ahead of our own Andrew Nicholls in 5th spot (and winning the over 40's class too!).

Cracking day after a wet week so they must be praying to the same weather gods as WGDF!

(I would have been there if not for a cold. Shame their entry level wasn't higher for an area so rich in trials history with the superb Wye Valley Traders not too distant in our minds. Once upon a time there was great support from WG for trials around here. ... or was it all because of the Bull's Head? ed.)
