The Jubilee Trial 2013

Report by Ian Wixon

Taunton MCC 28th Jubilee Classic Sporting Reliability Trial - to give it its full title.

A large number of our local riders travelled down to Somerset last weekend for The Taunton Jubilee Trial and had an excellent day's riding.

This year's course seemed a bit on the easy side as the organisers had expected rain which, for a change, didn't come, but there was a lot of new land used and some excellent forest trails which suited the enduro bikes of which there were many.

Class 1 pre65 unit was a close battle all day between Chris Harvey and Ian Wixon, both on Triumph Twins and both making silly mistakes, with Chris winning on 11 to Ian's 12.

But they were put to shame by Steve Hancox who's getting the hang of his pre-unit Triumph, dropping just 4 marks to win class 2 from Colin Hedges on 8.

Class 3 had four riders clean and Steve Venn 2, Keith Wells 4 and Dave McEeles on 7 took the team award for Cheltenham Home Guard.

The course had been set out with enduro bikes in mind but with only one route it was still tight on a couple of sections for these big bikes.

So ride of the day has to go to Nick Worgan who dropped just 6 marks to take 2nd place in class 4. Well done Nick.
