Reading Roadbooks

The Example below shows a standard format for roadbooks. The 1st column shows on white background the total cumulative mileage (or in Km if requested), The grey background shows the mileage from the previous picture to the current one. Therefore the first turn from leaving the pub is 0.08 miles down road.

2nd column shows a tulip style diagram with where you come from being the ball at the bottom and head off in the direction of the arrow. There are representations of the road quality by dashed for lanes and tracks and double for tarmaced with wider for larger than single track roads. Building should be obvious as should the church in box 4 and 9. Trees in box 6 with a tunnel/bridge shown over the road. Box 4 also shows a cross, which will be clear when you get there.

3rd column give the instructions for what to do and these are abbreviated to R - Right, L-Left, SO-Straight On, MR-Main Road, XRds-Cross Roads, T-T junction,Trk-Track

Also in this box is the 12 figure map reference. Remember that these are reversed order from 6 figure format. The N and E should give you the clue!
